The Colorado Literacy and Learning Center (CLLC) has a vision to create a system of public educational opportunities throughout Colorado that will be able to serve Kindergarten through 8th grade students in an International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC) recognized and Colorado Literacy and Learning Center operated network of public schools focusing on a personalized blended learning educational solution for struggling readers with an emphasis on supporting students who fit a profile for dyslexia. CLLC would like to begin this vision in El Paso County where we have already supported the start up of a successful public education model supporting students with dyslexia.
CLLC's School for Dyslexic Learners will model much of its instructional philosophy and educational structure off of the currently operating Academy for Literacy, Learning, and Innovation Excellence (ALLIES) within District 49. CLLC's Kindergarten through 8th grade public school option will employ nationally Certified Academic Language Therapists (CALTs) to deliver master literacy instruction to some of our most struggling readers across El Paso County. Students will work with highly trained educators who will offer a high level of accommodations and support systems for students who struggle with reading, writing, and mathematics as a result of a dyslexic learning profile. Student's who struggle in reading for other reasons will also benefit from the targeted structured literacy approach that highly trained and skilled reading interventionists will offer each student. CLLC's School for Dyslexic Learners will deliver both online and face to face classroom instruction in ELA, math, science, and social studies. Various elective opportunities will also be offered where students will be able to further explore and expand the unique gifts that every child possesses. Students will also be able to surround themselves with others who understand their unique learning needs and participate in learning opportunities that teach to these gifts. Ultimately, we will be able to increase not only the quality of life of each student we serve but of each community we become a member within.
